The Client – Queens Heath
Queens Heath is a community organisation in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham, who organise a yearly Pride event. Their main goals for their website were to:
- Inform their audience about the organisation and event
- Showcase a gallery of photos from previous events
- Collect information of potential volunteers and performers
- Allow customers to buy merch items – currently through a link to a separate store
Design
To start the process, we created a prototype website. This used design and brand assets that Queens Heath already had from previous events.
We created a colour palette and a consistent design language for items such as buttons, which worked in concert with the previously outlined brand identity. We ensured that the design concept followed on from this by making use of the artwork which was comissioned from Pheeb Robinson. In doing this, we successfully gave the website a playful appearance and interest in all screen layouts.
Once the team had approved the general design and secured the hosting, we started to build out the website, including the 3 requested pages:
- Home page to give a general overview of the project
- Gallery page to display images
- Get Involved page for people to sign up to emails and get in contact
The final link on the header bar was for Queens Heath merch items being sold on Joe Lycett’s shopfront.
Build
Throughout the build process, we remained in contact with the Queens Heath team and the artist Pheeb, making changes as required.
We tested the site on many different devices in order to ensure a great user experience on the site, no matter the device.
Finally, we delivered the completed website, which the client was happy with. You can find the website at https://queensheathpride.com.
